  4. Responsible citizens. AET works in secure facilities such as government, military, nuclear, and utility environments. You must be able to obtain and maintain various security clearances.
  5. Professional. AET requires its field test engineers and field test technicians to become certified by the International Electrical Testing Association (NETA) or National Institute for Certification in Engineering Technologies (NICET) within six (6) months of the date of hire. Certification level and job position are dependent on experience and training.

AET Field Engineering - Position Summaries:

Senior Engineering Technician (SET):

Graduate Engineer BSEE or BSME with six (6) years experience in same or similar field; OR Graduate of Electrical Technical School or Military equivalent (four years education) and six (6) years of experience; OR High school education and ten (10) years minimum same or similar work experience.

Performs electrical studies. Analyze test results. Writes procedures, budgets, and other technical documents. Troubleshoot, test, and inspect complex electrical systems, and moderately complex relay calibration and power metering. Operate all types of test equipment and have some experience in coordination of electrical systems. May be mentally demanding, requiring concentration on several projects and activities at once. Position requires limited supervision.

Engineering Technician (ET):

Graduate Engineer BSEE or BSME with three (3) years experience in same or similar field. OR Graduate of Electrical Technical School or Military equivalent (four years education) and three (3) years of experience. OR High school education and five (5) years minimum same or similar work experience.

Capable of supervising TT and AET level technicians. Performs routine and moderately complex projects. Responsible for safety of others. Performs some electrical switching. Performs evaluations of test results. Troubleshoots, tests, and inspects complex electrical systems, and moderately complex relay calibration and power metering. Operates all types of test equipment. May be mentally demanding, requiring concentration on several projects and activities at once. Position requires limited supervision.

Associate Engineering Technician (AET):

Graduate Engineer BSEE or BSME. OR Graduate of Electrical Technical School or Military equivalent (four years education). OR High school education and two (2) years minimum same or similar work experience.

Mid level position. Performs a variety of electrical equipment testing, maintains equipment calibration lists. Works on-site under the guidance and direct supervision of an ET or SET. Responsible of safety for self. Understands lock-out, tag-out, and grounding.

Technician Trainee (TT) :

High School Diploma; OR GED plus 2 years related experience.

Entry level position. Performs basic testing, maintains equipment, shop cleanup, and other basic duties. Works on-site under the guidance and direct supervision of an AET, ET, or SET.
